The Prayer Warriors 379

Priscilla Ann Bell

Priscilla Ann Bell is a devoted Woman of God and Prayer Warrior, born on December 10, 1960, in Lafayette, Alabama. She is the second oldest of six children born to Robert and Corine Bell. From an early age, Priscilla was grounded in faith, nurtured by her mother, a dedicated homemaker, who instilled biblical values by reading Scripture to her children regularly. This early spiritual foundation led Priscilla to give her life to the Lord as a child.

Priscilla spent her summers in Lafayette with her grandparents, Jim and Rosie Vines, where her faith deepened. During this time, she joined Poplar Spring Baptist Church and attended Sunday School for the first time. It was there that she developed a profound love for God—an early spiritual awakening that sparked a lifelong desire to grow in her understanding of His love and purpose.

After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, Priscilla became an active member of Mount Gilbert Baptist Church, which she describes as her home away from home. Church life was central to her upbringing, fostering strong, lifelong relationships and a deep sense of community. While at Mount Gilbert, she faithfully served as an usher and sang in the children’s choir. Although she experienced periods of stepping away from the church, her faith in God remained steadfast.

Priscilla attended Walker High School, where she excelled academically, particularly in business studies, becoming one of the top business students in her class. The technical and professional skills she developed there laid the foundation for a successful career in the corporate sector, including roles with Kemper Insurance Company and Manufacturers Life Insurance Company.

Her professional journey eventually intersected with her passion for ministry and service. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Pressley, CEO of the Institute of Church Administration and Management (ICAM), and Dr. James Costen, President of the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), Priscilla played a pivotal role in the establishment of ICAM in 1992. As a founding member, she wore many hats during its formative years, working closely with senior leadership to build and expand the organization’s mission.

Through her work with ICAM and ITC, Priscilla collaborated with prominent leaders in ministry and academia, including Bishop John H. Adams, Bishop Roy Winbush, Dr. Robert Franklin (former President of ITC and Morehouse College), and Dr. Jacquelyn Grant, a pioneer in Womanist Theology. She was also instrumental in creating the Center for Black Women in Church and Society, further demonstrating her commitment to empowering women in faith communities.

Priscilla’s work supported numerous denominations, including the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (AMEZ), Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME), Church of God in Christ (COGIC), National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (NBC USA), and the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (PNBC). She advanced to the role of Grant Manager and Registrar at ICAM, where she oversaw both nonprofit and for-profit grants from major funding organizations such as the Lilly Endowment and the Ford Foundation.

As part of the leadership team, Priscilla contributed significantly to initiatives aimed at strengthening the administrative and operational effectiveness of Historically Black Churches and Universities. She also helped develop and deliver leadership training programs designed to equip African American clergy and laity with essential skills in management, administration, and

Priscilla furthered her education within the University System of Georgia, earning degrees in Business Management and Human Resources. She also completed a Certificate in Theology, a program designed to equip individuals for ministry, spiritual leadership, and theological study. Her life’s work reflects a powerful blend of faith, service, leadership, and professional excellence—anchored in a lifelong commitment to God and to uplifting others.

Priscilla has been married to Robert Lee Weaver for over 40 years. She is the proud mother of three daughters—Alexanderia, LeeAnnderia, and Priscilla—and a devoted grandmother to James, Amyiah, Wyner, and Atreus.
